On July 6, a 3-member team from the South American nation of Chile completed a 10-day long mission in the West Bank town of Jenin, treating children with burns and other plastic surgery needs, as well as children with orthopedic disorders. The team included pediatric surgeon Dr. Jorge Larrea Jorquera, Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Veronica Vilches Galves, and anesthesiologist Dr. Patricia Bondi.
The PCRF has sponsored and organized several recent missions by volunteers surgeons from Chile, including teams in pediatric urology and pediatric surgery. These expert surgeons are part of an ongoing effort by the PCRF to address all of the urgent health-care needs of sick and injured children in Palestine, and several missions have been sent to Jenin in the past several months to provide poor and needy people in that remote town the care that they otherwise would not get locally.
