During the holy month of Ramadan, the PCRF continued to send surgery teams to Palestine, despite the difficulty of working during the month of fasting. On September 6, Dr. Kostas Giannikas from Athens, Greece went to Nablus to screen over 100 patients as part of a new project in helping to develop orthopedic surgery at the medical school there. On September 12, Dr. Jiab Suleiman from Dearborn, MI arrived in Ramallah and began screening dozens of children with orthopedic deformities. He began to operate on children on Sunday and will work until the Eid holiday. This is Dr. Suleiman’s first mission to Palestine via the PCRF. The PCRF is the main humanitarian relief group sponsoring surgery trips to Palestine and the camps in Lebanon. Several dozen teams have already provided care for thousands of sick and injured children this year. Dozens more teams are scheduled to work in the Middle East East via the PCRF following the Eid holiday.
