American pediatric dental surgeon completes mission to Palestinian camps in Lebanon

ravel1On October 10, Dr. Daniel Ravel from North Carolina arrived in Lebanon to being a week of treating special needs children from the Palestinian refugee camps. Dr. Ravel has led several past missions to Palestine and Lebanon for the PCRF and is very active is improving the quality of health care in pediatric dentistry for Palestinian children. Dr. Ravel screen and treated children in the Bourj Al-Shamali refugee camp, the Naher Al Bared camp, which was destroyed by the Lebanese army in 2007, and Al Badawi camp in Tripoli in the north, and in Shatila refugee camp in Beirut. Most of the children were operated on in Haifa Hospital in the Bourj Al Barajna refugee camp in Beirut. These special needs children are not treated through traditional dentistry and the PCRF is dedicated to helping to provide them the care that they need, as well as to continue to train and teach the local dental professionals in helping to care for these kids, who require an OR setting and anesthesia.
