On November 2nd, Dr. Francis and Merlin Nathan from Australia arrived in Lebanon to start a 10-day period of surgery at the Human Call Hospital in the Ein el Hilweh Refugee camp. Dr. Nathan has led several past missions for the PCRF to Gaza, Nablus and Lebanon, treating over 1,000 poor Palestinians with cataracts and improving their sight. The nearly 100,000 refugees in the Ein el Hilweh camp near Sidon, Lebanon have little access to quality health care, and remain under siege by the Lebanese army, who surround the camp with military checkpoints and limit those leaving and entering the camp. The local surgeon, Dr. Hasan Manana also worked hard to ensure that the dozens of patients in need got the care required to have a better life.
