From October 21 to November 2nd, general surgeon Dr. Cathy Brenner from Alaska provided breast cancer screening on nearly 100 Palestinian refugee women in the camps in Lebanon at the Haifa Hospital in the Bourj Al Barajna refugee camp in Beirut. This was part of an awareness campaign launched by the PCRF and the Brenners to educate the female population in the camps in Lebanon on the importance of early detection of breast cancer, as well as the means for doing self-examinations. Nine women were in need of some intervention as a result of these exams, and many more now are aware of the importance and ability to do self-examinations. This will be an ongoing campaign to help Palestinian women address the problem of early detection of breast cancer.
A week prior, Dr. David Brenner visited Rafidiah Hospital in Nablus and provided thousands of dollars worth of donated urological equipment to the local staff. Dr. Brenner did past missions to both the West Bank and Gaza Strip on behalf of the PCRF and was able to obtain this equipment through his hard work and dedication to the humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people.
