On April 4th, a large delegation of doctors and nurses from the USA and Chile completed a mission to the West Bank in which they provided free urological surgery at Hebron, Ramallah and Rafidiah government hospitals in Nablus. The PCRF teams were in coordination with International Volunteers in Urology, a group that we have cooperated in the past to treat children in Palestine with urological disorders. The teams included surgeons Dr. Scott Eggener from Chicago, Dr. José Ricardo Yañez Pizarro from Concepción, Chile, Dr. John Gazak from North Carolina, anesthesiologist Dr. Kevin Healy from Iowa, Akira Toyama CRNA from California, Phil Seidenberg (Emergency Medicine) and nurses Amal Jubran from San Diego and Theresa Bubb from Portland.
In addition to treating dozens of needy patients at all three institutions and training local physicians, the doctors also held a conference at the Grand Park Hotel in Ramallah in cooperation with the Palestinian Urological Society, which was attended by doctors from all over the West Bank. Lectures were provided in many different aspects of urological disease and treatments, and it was the first time that international teams provided such scientific lectures in Palestine.
