Chicago Chapter’s 1st Annual Fundraiser

On March 22nd, 2009, the Chicago chapter of the PCRF hosted its first annual fundraising dinner at Al-Hambra Restaurant in Chicago. The dinner featured Hanan Ashrawi as the guest speaker, as well as dabke, live oud music with singing, an auction, and firsthand accounts from Chicago doctors who have volunteered in Palestine. One of these volunteer doctors was Khaled Abughazaleh, a current member of the Chicago chapter, who has traveled to Palestine several times with the PCRF to treat poor children with heart disease at Makassed Hospital in East Jerusalem. The 1st Annual Fundraiser was well attended and raised over $120,000 for various medical and relief projects in Palestine, including a new dental clinic.
