Gazan Boy Returns Home After Major Surgery in Chicago

Nearly four months after arriving to Chicago for major surgery, five-year-old Tayyem Daher returned to his home in Gaza. He was born with a vascular lesion on the left side of his face, and traveled with his mom to Chicago, where he received underwent a major life changing surgery to remove the lesion. Thanks to the doctors at The Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital, particularly Dr. Arun Gosain, who performed the surgery, and Dr. Ali Shaibani, a vascular surgeon who treated him through sclerotherapy, Tayyem was able to receive care he could not have gotten in Palestine. The PCRF would like to thank all those involved in his care, including the doctors, the hospital, the hosting family, and the PCRF Chicago chapter and community for helping to support him while he received this care.
