Sending Volunteer Surgery Teams to Palestine

Boston Pediatric Cardiac Surgery team, December 1999

In December, the PCRF sent a nine-member team of pediatric cardiac surgeons, cardiologists and nurses from two main hospitals in Boston to Ramallah and Makassed Hospital to provide open-heart surgery on sick babies with congenital heart disease. Led by surgeon Dr. Emil Bacha, and cardiologists Dr. Jonathan Rhodes, Dr. Hitu Patel and Dr. Ziad Saba, the team did several lifesaving operations during the first week of Ramadan.
