Adult Cardiac Surgery Team Saves Lives in Gaza
In late September 2001, the PCRF sent a team of adult cardiac surgeons from the US to Gaza to provide lifesaving open-heart surgery for patients dying from heart disease. Led by Dr. Imad Tabry, who has led three missions to Palestine through the PCRF, the team worked for two weeks. Also on the team was nurse Amal Juran and perfusionist Yousef Rizak. Despite not having the larger team due to the terror attack in NY on Sept. 11, they were still able to save the lives of many sick and dying patients who otherwise would not have gotten the care they needed. Dr. Tabry is now a member of the PCRF Board of Directors and has been able to provide much insight in the area of cardiac care.
