n addition to sending sick and injured Arab children for free medical care in North & South America, Europe, Asia and parts of the Middle East, but we also initiate and sponsor other humanitarian programs, such as sending volunteer teams of surgeons and other medical personnel to treat patients and train professionals in local hospitals in an effort to improve the quality of health care and provide urgent medical care for children. These volunteer medical teams consist of doctors and nurses from all over the world with specialties in the areas of cardiac surgery, orthopedic surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, ophthalmic surgery, vascular surgery, maxillofacial surgery, urology, and neurosurgery. Many of these specialized services are currently not available through local care-givers and we are often the only hope for many of these needy children. Since we started sponsoring missions in 1995, thousands of children have been treated by our visiting teams. The PCRF coordinates these projects with local NGOs, the Ministry of Health and other medical groups working on the ground there, and are the main nonprofit organization sponsoring medical missions to the Middle East.
