Mohammed Abu-Nasser
Excerpted from the Rancho Bernardo News Journal, June 10, 1999 by Donna Hartings
Six year-old Mohammed Abu-Nasser was just trying to help when he sprayed paint thinner over the family barbecue.
The fiery explosion was devastating, searing the youngster's skin in such a way that even after it healed, the scar tissue prevented
Mohammed's eyes from closing and his jaw muscles from working properly.
The PCRF arranged Mohammed's visit here so San Diego plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Peters could donate his time and expertise.

The surgery took place May 21 at Mercy Hospital, which donated its facilities. Mohammed's sutures were removed a week later and
he will be returning home to Gaza this week.
On his first visit, Peters brought a dermatome, a machine that automatically lifts skin grafts, which had been donated by Mercy hospital.
Mohammed was hosted by Gabriela and Mohamad Tayem and other families in San Diego.
