This week, a nine-member team of doctors and nurses from Spain and Switzerland returned to the Palestine Medical Center in the West Bank town of Ramallah to provide life-saving open-heart surgery on sick children born with congenital heart disease. Led by Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon Dr. Amir-Reza Hosseinpour from Seville, Spain, who has lead several past volunteer missions, the team include from Lusanne, Switzerland Intensivist Dr. Marie-Hélène Perez, Cardiologist Dr. Stefano Di Bernardo, Intensivist and Cardiologist Dr. Damien Schaffner, Anesthesiologist Dr. Sylvain Mauron, ICU nurses Olivier Mantion and Valérie Moity, Physiotherapist Sylvie Roch, and Seville Perfusionist Diego Solis Clavijo. The PCRF is the main NGO in Palestine building up cardiac surgery care for children in need.
