This week, a four-member team of volunteer doctors from North and South America crossed into Gaza to provide maxillofacial surgery on children at Shifa Hospital. Led by PCRF Chairman of the board, Dr. Khaled Abu Ghazaleh from Chicago, the team included anesthesiologist Dr. Ahmad Wafai, Ecuadorean surgeon Dr. Fernando Sandoval and surgeon Dr. Raymundo Ramirez. This team has been on several past volunteer missions to the West Bank, Gaza, Jordan and Lebanon and have provided hundreds of patients complex reconstructive surgery that they otherwise could not get locally.
