Part of the PCRF’s mission is to provide training and experience for local doctors and nurses. Our goal is to not just do surgery on children but to also help teach and develop the ability of our Palestinian brethren in the Middle East to better care for their own children. This week Loma Linda ICU nurse Kelly Deckard held a lecture for the nursing staff at the European Gaza Hospital, where a PCRF team is currently providing open-heart surgery on children with congenital heart disease. Nursing in Palestine is understaffed and under-compensated and over-worked, and we recognize their efforts and sacrifice and hope to better support their efforts to provide better patient care to those in need.
