17 Injured children arrive in Dubai for treatment
On April 15, seventeen injured children from the West Bank and Gaza Strip, many of them injured during Israel’s January assault on Gaza, arrived in Dubai, the U.A.E. to start treatment that is not available to them locally. The Gaza children included 17-year-old Ayoub Atallah from Beit Hanoun, who lost his right leg and part of his left hand from an Israeli bomb, Mousa Al Soud, 14 y, from the Briej refugee camp, who lost his right hand from an Israeli bomb, Omer Abu Rahman, 17 y, from central Gaza, who lost his left leg from an Israeli bomb, Somaia Al Makadmeh, 18 y, who lost her left leg from an Israeli bomb, Khould Al Seesi, 18 y, from Gaza. She lost her leg above the knee from a bomb. All of these amputees will be treated through the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment, who has worked with the past already over the past year to send over one-dozen injured kids to Dubai for medical care and also millions of dollars worth of donated medical supplies to Gaza.
Another child from Gaza, Adham Al Rozzi from Gaza City, who is cerebral palsy child suffering from club feet. He is being treated by Dr. Maarten Spruit of the Dubai Bone and Joint Center and City Hospital in Dubai.
The West Bank children who are also being treated are Mohammed Sweeti, 3 y, from Hebron, who lost his left arm; Ahmed Jawabrah, 14 y, from Hebron, who was born without a right arm; Sahar Ali Al Mour, 16 y, from Hebron, who is missing her left arm at the shoulder; Deena Hashim Jouda, 13 y, from Tulkarem, who was born without a left hand; 14-year-old Anas Bilal Mohammad Jubhi from Tulkarem, who lost his left leg from a bomb; 15-year-old Naian Khaled Abed Allateef Radad from Tulkarem, who was born without a right arm; 16-year-old Younis Galbous from Mirkah/Jenin, who is missing his right leg; 7-year-old Kareem Awwad from Jenin, who was born without an arm; Sabreen Musbah, 16 y, from Nablus, who was born without an arm; and Mohammed Azar, 16 y, from Nablus, who is missing his left leg. All of these children are being treated through the support of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment.
Also from the West Bank is 6-year-old Sana Toobasi from Jenin, who is suffering from a variety of orthopedic disorders, including club feet. She is being treated by Dr. Marc Sinclair of the Little Wings Foundation in Dubai.
Many of these children are traveling with their mothers and their logistical, social, and emotional support is being addressed by the hard work and help of dozens of volunteers in Dubai, led by the PCRF chapter there. Without the support of the PCRF chapter and the community in Dubai, these kids would not be able to get the care that they need.
