In the wake of the devastating war in Gaza, the number of wounded and child amputees has reached an unprecedented level. Children who have lost limbs not only face physical disabilities but also severe psychological trauma, social isolation, and barriers to long term independence.
While the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF), has long provided medical, surgical, and rehabilitation support to child amputees, the scale of need today is unprecedented. A simple prosthetic limb is not enough—these children require a holistic, compassionate, long-term approach through continuous medical care, emotional support, and long-term rehabilitation.
Beyond physical needs, the emotional and psychological impact of limb loss in children is profound. Many struggle with self-esteem, trauma, and social reintegration, requiring mental health support and empowerment programs to help them rebuild their confidence. By integrating surgical intervention, prosthetic fitting, rehabilitation, mental health services, and community empowerment programs, our goal is that these children receive the long-term support they need- not just to walk again, but to thrive.
The SANAD Program; a partnership between PCRF and the Little Wings Foundation, is dedicated to providing comprehensive medical care, rehabilitation, and support to wounded Palestinian children, with a special focus on those who have suffered limb loss in Gaza. SANAD ensures these children receive long-term care, including custom prosthetics, rehabilitation, and mental health support, to reclaim their futures.
