The PCRF- NJ Chapter joyfully hosted a Ramadan Iftar & Fundraiser event on Saturday, April 15th. The event was emceed by Palestinian-American actor, Amel Khalil. The Dr. Musa & Suhaila Nasir Humanitarian Award was presented to Guest Speaker, New York -based Urology Surgeon, and Professor, Dr. Joel DeCastro, who shared his experience of volunteering with PCRF in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The PCRF-NJ team proudly presented Craig and Cindy Corrie with an Award of Appreciation in honor of their beloved daughter, Rachel Corrie, for their devotion to the welfare of humanity and solidarity with the people of Palestine. The Corries shared Rachel's moving story and the continuation of her legacy through their support for Palestine’s children and PCRF. They were also joined by their local Rutgers University Student Club board as helpful volunteers.
Additionally, attendees enjoyed two Mahmoud Darwish poem readings by community volunteers, and children attendees had a fun experience creating Eid crafts at the kids club, complete with a movie screen and snacks. To wrap up the evening, guests enjoyed a lovely dabka performance by Al Baydar Dabka Group.
Thanks to the overwhelming support from local donors, the silent auction and raffle were a wonderful success. All funds collected from the event will support PCRF’s efforts to equip a physiotherapy clinic at Shatila Camp in Beirut and other medical and humanitarian initiatives to save and improve lives through PCRF. We are grateful to our New Jersey Chapter and the generous community of donors, attendees and volunteers for their support of our mission.
