We are devastated to announce that Al-Rantisi Specialized Pediatric Hospital in Gaza City, previously home to PCRF’s Dr. Musa and Suhaila Nasir Pediatric Cancer Department, has been forced out of service following relentless Israeli attacks in its vicinity.
This closure was not optional — it was a measure of survival for the patients, their family members, and the medical staff. 25 critically ill children were still at the hospital and in the middle of highly specialized treatment, when the hospital became unsafe to operate due to progressing Israeli military operations. Efforts are now underway to relocate essential medical equipment and preserve a lifeline of care in another facility.
On September 16, 2025, the hospital was attacked by the Israeli military while at least 80 children were inside, receiving treatment across multiple specialties. The forced closure of Gaza’s only dedicated pediatric hospital and its sole cancer department has left the most affected children without access to the care that keeps them alive.
This is not the first time the hospital has been forced to make these impossible decisions.. After the facility was targeted in November 2023, PCRF began the tireless work of rebuilding the department and other units of the hospital. Less than two years later, ongoing Israeli assaults have rendered it impossible to continue care at the facility.
Despite these devastating circumstances, PCRF remains steadfast in our mission. We are working urgently to identify every possible alternative to ensure these children continue receiving the life-saving care they desperately need and deserve.
Children, hospitals, and medical teams must never be targets. These repeated attacks on a hospital dedicated solely to saving young lives are a direct assault on the right to health, safety, and survival.
We urgently call on the international community, governments, and global institutions to take immediate action to protect Gaza’s hospitals, medical staff, and most importantly, the children, from the catastrophic crisis they face every day.
