On Saturday, September 23 the city of Houston experienced a memorable evening of giving at the PCRF Houston Chapter’s First Annual Benefit Dinner, themed An Olive Branch for Jenin. We welcomed close to 300 guests who donated generously to establish a much needed medical clinic in Bir Al-Basha, near Jenin. The generosity was spurred upon hearing the compelling and heart wrenching story about the founding of PCRF by none other than Mr. Steve Sosebee himself, who touched all our hearts and left everyone wanting to join the cause.
The evening included excellent musical performances by local talent Muhammad Saadah and fellow musicians, energetic folkloric dances by Watan Dabke, a notable collection of silent auction items and exciting raffle giveaways.
We congratulate our very own Dr. Greg Stocks on receiving the Dr. Musa and Suhaila Nasir humanitarian award for his continuous devotion to the PCRF locally and abroad, having completed five medical missions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip with the PCRF among other numerous contributions. The Houston Chapter also presented the Huda Al Masri award to Dr. Haroon Patel for the tremendous support and enthusiasm he brings to our events, including fundraising abilities that helped us exceed our goals twice in a row to raise money for important initiatives in Palestine. The chapter also surprised their fellow steering committee member, Dr. Fiona Tagari, with the Huda Al Masri award as a volunteer who led the chapter in planning and executing several events and initiatives since its inception, especially for her outstanding efforts and dedication to making this event come to life.
The Houston chapter is looking forward to many more successful events as well as increased growth and community awareness, and extends its warmest appreciation to everyone involved in making this event possible.
