The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) was honored to respond to the urgent needs of 65 families of children with cancer in southern Gaza, providing critical support during these incredibly challenging times. The harsh winter has been especially difficult for displaced families and refugees who lack access to basic services, making these humanitarian efforts a vital lifeline. Through this initiative, PCRF has successfully brought hope and care to vulnerable children battling cancer and their families, as well as to countless refugees affected by the ongoing crisis.
Before October 2023, children with cancer in Gaza received specialized care at the Dr. Musa and Suhaila Nasir Pediatric Cancer Department, established by PCRF in February 2019 as the first and only pediatric oncology unit in Gaza, providing comprehensive medical and educational support.
However, since the outbreak of the war on Gaza in October 2023, the department has been forced to suspend its services due to extensive damage, the evacuation of the surrounding area, and the collapse of medical infrastructure. Despite these overwhelming challenges, PCRF remains committed to delivering humanitarian care to these children and their families, doing everything possible to meet their needs until the conditions allow for the department’s rehabilitation and reopening.
Our mission continues, fueled by the resilience of Gaza’s children and the unwavering support of people around the world who believe in the right to health and dignity for all.
