At just 11 months old, Tina Al Irani, a Lebanese child, faced life-threatening health challenges. Born with Mitral Valve Insufficiency and a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), Tina’s fragile heart struggled to keep her alive. Her condition required urgent open-heart surgery, a procedure her family couldn’t afford due to financial constraints.
Thanks to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) and its One-Time Surgery Sponsorship Program, Tina received the life-saving surgery she desperately needed at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC). Today, Tina is thriving—her heart beats stronger, and she’s embracing a new life full of hope and possibilities.
About the One-Time Surgery Sponsorship Program
Through the One-Time Surgery Sponsorship Program, PCRF identifies children in Lebanon’s refugee camps and Jordan who require urgent surgical care but lack access due to poverty and limited healthcare resources. Each week, PCRF’s dedicated field teams and social workers assess the needs of vulnerable children, partnering with hospitals to secure reduced costs for high-quality medical care.
This program has provided thousands of children with life-changing surgeries, giving them the chance to live healthier, brighter lives. Tina’s story is one of many, reflecting PCRF’s commitment to ensuring that no child is left without the medical care they need, regardless of their circumstances.
