UK Hand Surgeons Provide Critical Surgeries for Children in Jordan

PCRF welcomed the UK Surgeons Hand Mission, led by Dr. Asan Rafee and Dr. Yazan Al-Shalan, to Alhanan Hospital in Jordan. The mission provided essential medical care to improve the quality of life, enhance mobility, and pave the way for a better future for children in need.

During the mission, 28 children with trauma-related and congenital limb deformities were screened. Among them, 10 children underwent complex surgeries, showcasing the dedication and expertise of the volunteer doctors.

PCRF organizes medical missions by sponsoring volunteer teams of doctors and nurses from around the world to treat sick and injured children in Palestine, Jordan, and refugee camps in Lebanon, while also training local healthcare providers. Since 1995, when the first surgeon was sent to the West Bank, PCRF has facilitated hundreds of missions in specialties such as pediatric cardiac surgery, orthopedics, urology, maxillofacial surgery, general pediatric surgery, hand surgery, ophthalmic surgery, neurosurgery, and more.
