PCRF’s Official Statement in Response to Online Misinformation
In light of recent coordinated misinformation targeting our organization, PCRF has issued the following statement to clarify our position and reaffirm our commitment to humanitarian service and integrity.
Official Statement from the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF)
At a time when the children of Gaza are being relentlessly bombed, starved, and amputated, it is unconscionable that anyone would choose to spread lies and attempt to tear down one of the few organizations that remains with its teams on the ground, every day, risking everything to help them survive and helping thousands of children in Palestine and beyond.
Most disturbing among the claims being circulated is the recent accusation that PCRF is “now being run by corrupt Palestinians,” a racist, deeply offensive attack that not only slanders our dedicated teams, supporters, and those we serve, but undermines the dignity of all who dedicate their lives to humanitarian service. This kind of language is dehumanizing and dangerous, especially in a moment when Palestinians are facing one of the darkest chapters in their history.
Let us be clear: there is no evidence behind any of these claims, only hostility, resentment, and the kind of toxic competition that has no place in humanitarian work. We would like to share that we are fully aware of those behind these distortion campaigns. Individuals tied to this effort have made clear statements that they intend to “destroy PCRF” and that “We will make sure that PCRF will not be around much longer.” These are not isolated remarks, but part of a deliberate and targeted effort that we have been dealing with for some time, to erode public trust in PCRF. For months, PCRF has been the target of desperate, escalating, and coordinated efforts of defamation and misinformation. These baseless attacks, spread through anonymous emails, insinuating social media posts, and online smears, are not only false, they harm the very people they claim to protect.
PCRF chose, for a long time, to ignore this noise and stay focused on our only mission: the children we serve. But this is what we’ve received in return: threats, misinformation, hate and coordinated attempts to sabotage our life-saving work in the middle of an active genocide.
Spreading racism and hate against Palestinians is not criticism, it is a red line. Dehumanizing language directed at those who are risking their lives to serve, or those suffering under siege, has no place in humanitarian discourse. It endangers lives, undermines dignity, and must be called out for what it is.
Those behind this campaign have gone beyond spreading public misinformation. They have engaged in anonymous cyberbullying and harassment, actively working to discredit our organization, deter supporters, and divert critical funding away from the children we work so hard to help, and now, even spreading hate. These tactics, many of which have been traced and documented, are being addressed through the appropriate authorities and legal channels. Some individuals involved in these empty attempts have already been identified and are facing consequences in court.
In some cases, these attacks are even being amplified by suspicious online activity and pseudonyms. Commited experts are taking appropriate steps to investigate. However, it is deeply troubling that anyone would resort to such calculated efforts to discredit a humanitarian organization, especially during a time of profound suffering. This reveals much about those involved, including a disturbing willingness to stop at nothing. We will continue to pursue every avenue available under the law to protect this organization for the sake of the children we serve.
At a time when the needs in Gaza are vast and urgent, we believe there is space, and a moral imperative, for all sincere efforts to contribute. True humanitarian work is not a competition, and no credible contributor should feel threatened by others trying to help.
To those spreading lies: You are hurting our children. And we will not allow this.
To those truly committed to helping Gaza’s children: Do not be distracted. They still need us. The bombs are still falling. Limbs are still being lost. Children are being starved and orphaned every day. Our mission is too urgent, too vital, to be derailed.
To our growing community of supporters: Thank you.
Together, we are saving lives. Together, we remain focused. Together, we will not stop.
Together, we will continue to be a trusted organization dedicated to protecting those who need us the most.
