Birthdays and Activities Bring Children Joy at the Huda Al Masri Pediatric Cancer Department

Seven-year-old Sham and four-year-old Tala, two children being treated for cancer at the Huda Al Masri Pediatric Cancer Department in Bethlehem, recently celebrated their birthdays in the department. They celebrated with special cakes and gifts on their joy-filled day. The other girls in the department who have lost their hair due to the side effects of chemotherapy were fitted for wigs, giving them back a sense of normalcy and helping to uplift their spirits while they undergo treatment.

The Huda Al Masri Pediatric Cancer Department was opened in April 2013 by PCRF as the first and only department in the public health sector in Palestine treating children with cancer. Hundreds of children have had free life-saving care since then in this department, named after our founding member and head social worker, Huda Al Masri, who passed away from cancer in 2009.
