PCRF is the only NGO running a program to help all of the children with amputations in the Gaza Strip. This week, below-knee amputee Fatima, 17, was measured for her first prosthesis at Hamad Hospital north of Gaza City. She is from the central Gaza Strip and underwent amputation in June. Fatima first received a trial limb in August at PCRF’’s Camp Ability thanks to our volunteer Ramona Okumura, who heads our Prosthetic and Orthotic Subcommittee on our Medical Advisory Board. Fatima has overcome many difficulties through our Gaza amputee program, receiving support from her peers and through our mental health team. She is now walking again, thanks to the cooperation of Hamad Hospital. PCRF is the leading nonprofit organization in the world, supporting humanitarian projects and programs on the ground in Palestine. For over 30 years, we have provided tens of thousands of children in the Middle East humanitarian aid through direct support based on their needs.
