French Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Team Starts Mission in Ramallah

This week, a French volunteer pediatric cardiac surgery team led by Dr. Dominique Metras, started operating in children with congenital heart disease at the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah.  The team include cardiac surgeon Dr. Nabil Dib, Intensivist/Anesthesiologist Dr. Bruno Bourdarias, perfusuonist Patrick Siclis, and ICU nurses Marie Lathus and Laura Olicard. Dr. Metras has lead over 11 past volunteer missions to Palestine with PCRF, and some of his team members were with him last year in Gaza. The local team are leading the program, including pediatric cardiologists Dr. Mahmoud Nashashibi and Dr. Rula Awad, anesthesiologist Dr. Hassan Ismail, ICU Dr.  Mohammed Ismail, anesthesiologist Dr. Abed Alhaleem Abu Haltam, perfusionist Ahmad Ismael, anesthesia technician Qussai Abu Assbah, and several hard-working OR and ICU nurses. The team scheduled 11 children for cardiac surgery and are part of a larger program in helping build a program for the Ministry of Health.
