Expansion Progress at Huda Al Masri Department: PICU and Oncology Clinic Near Completion

The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) is making major progress in expanding the Huda Al Masri Pediatric Cancer Department at Beit Jala Hospital, a vital center for treating children with cancer in the West Bank. The project includes building a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and a new Outpatient Oncology Clinic, filling a critical gap in specialized pediatric care.

Construction milestones have been achieved: the steel structure is in place, roof insulation is 80% complete, and essential drainage, mechanical, and electrical systems have been installed. The PICU plastering is now 75% done, and major enhancements to the entrance and stairways are underway to ensure accessibility and patient safety.

This facility will offer lifesaving care for children battling cancer and other serious illnesses—reducing the need for travel and providing consistent access to treatments close to home. PCRF’s ongoing investment in this project reflects its commitment to strengthening pediatric healthcare across Palestine.

In Palestine, children with cancer face immense barriers to treatment due to limited local services and the impact of prolonged crisis. The Huda Al Masri Pediatric Cancer Department at Beit Jala Hospital is first and only specialized facility in the West Bank providing free, high-quality care to pediatric cancer patients. This expansion brings new hope for children and families who have nowhere else to turn.
