From 28 August to 3 September 2026, PCRF conducted its first Local Pediatric Surgery and Pediatric Urology Medical Mission at the Ramallah Government Hospital Medical Complex (PMC – Sheikh Zayed), the West Bank, providing specialised surgical care to children through a locally based medical team.

Led by surgeons Dr. Mosaikah Anati, Dr. Ahmad Shlatf, and Dr. Wael Amro, with Dr. Maryam Oweida serving as Resident Physician, the team screened 40 children and performed 39 life-changing surgeries.

This mission was delivered through PCRF’s growing Local Medical Missions model, which works with existing healthcare institutions to provide specialised care within the local health system. Rather than bringing an international team into the country, PCRF supports the use of local medical facilities and engages healthcare professionals through public healthcare providers and the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

This approach helps PCRF reduce operational costs, make better use of existing healthcare capacity, and respond more quickly to patients requiring specialised care. It also helps overcome some of the logistical and entry restrictions that can delay or limit international medical missions.

By working with local healthcare professionals and institutions, PCRF can bring specialised paediatric care closer to the children who need it. This approach helps make treatment more accessible, more timely, and easier for families to reach, while also strengthening the capacity of local healthcare services to continue caring for children in their communities.
