“I [work] with children with cancer like my sons, and continue to follow [their cases] not only during working hours, but I keep in touch with my colleagues in the evening to check on these children.”

Nurse Rami Matar has been working with children fighting cancer for 13 years, and has been working in our Dr. Musa and Suhaila Nasir Gaza Pediatric Cancer Department since it’s opening in 2019, using his years of experience and love for children to help treat the patients in this department.

Speaking on the largest challenge he faces in his work, Rami told our team "I feel pain when it is confirmed that a new child has cancer, and the biggest challenge is that I cry [on the] inside, but I have to be strong in the moment [when] I tell [a] family about their child having cancer."

Our staff members are incredibly proud of Rami for the contributions he’s made to our efforts to fight pediatric cancer in Gaza, and we thank the many medical professionals like Rami working day and night in our cancer departments to help local children receive world-class healthcare. ❤️
