The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) has completed the rehabilitation and expansion of the Operating Department at Al-Aqsa Hospital, the main public hospital serving the central Gaza Strip, providing urgent surgical care to hundreds of patients daily amid the ongoing war.
This critical upgrade comes during a devastating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023, and continues to this day. Despite severe shortages of materials, soaring costs, and logistical challenges in transporting supplies across the Strip, PCRF restored three existing operating rooms and constructed a fourth new one, enhancing the hospital’s capacity to deliver life-saving interventions.
Al-Aqsa Hospital is a lifeline for civilians in the central governorates, receiving hundreds of injured patients every day, many requiring emergency surgeries. The operating department’s rehabilitation directly supports the medical system’s resilience in responding to mass casualties and critical cases under siege.
Through this achievement, PCRF reaffirms its commitment to strengthening Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure and ensuring access to essential medical services, especially during one of the region’s most severe humanitarian crises in recent history.
