This week, a shipment of PKU-safe milk arrived in Gaza for children. The shipment contained 720 cans of Type 1 formula Phenylfree medical milk. Those born with Phenylketonuria (PKU) cannot safely digest protein, making daily intake of this milk vital to getting the nutrients they need for proper development. Without the special formula, the proteins attack the nervous system, and children can suffer neurological damage leading to developmental delays, among other medical problems. This life-saving medicinal milk is frequently inaccessible and expensive.

Thanks to our many donors, this urgent relief project is one of many throughout the Gaza Strip that PCRF has implemented that aims to support children who suffer from specific health conditions amid the current humanitarian crisis.
