Transplant Surgeon Returns to Gaza

This week, Dr. Walid Massoud, a vascular and organ transplantation surgeon and a member of our board of directors, entered Gaza to being his volunteer mission to provide kidney transplants surgeries at Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.  Dr. Masoud has lead several past surgery missions with PCRF to Gaza and is working with a local team to help provide training in kidney transplantation from a first-degree donor.   Dr. Masoud performed 21 life-saving kidney transplants for patients in the Gaza Strip during his past medical missions.  These operations save patients and their families the hardship of traveling abroad for costly and complicated surgery and saving the MOH millions of dollars. Our goal is to help provide the training and experience for the local teams to provide better care and support for their patients while reducing the waiting list of patients needing expert care.
