Injured Gaza Boy Returns to Portland for Surgery
Injured Gaza Boy Returns to Portland for Surgery

This summer 14-year-old Thaer from Gaza was sent back to Portland to continue his treatment after he suffered a traumatic amputation in 2014 when his home was hit by a bomb and his mother and four siblings were killed. Since he received his first prosthetic Thaer has grown significantly.  He was sent back to Portland to undergo surgery that will help fit him in an upper knee prosthetic. Thaer is receiving his care at the Shriners Hospital for Sick Children in Portland, who are providing his care for free. Thaer is preparing for his surgery at and is being supported by generous volunteers from the Portland area.
