Mental Health Support for Amputated Children Returning to Gaza

This week, the PCRF Mental health team undertook home visits within Gaza City, focusing on children who had undergone limb amputations and had received medical treatment outside of Palestine. Their objective encompassed evaluating the psychological and social well-being of these children, maintaining contact with their caregivers, and addressing any behavioral shifts that emerged subsequent to their journeys. The ultimate aim was to formulate a comprehensive strategy for continuous therapeutic sessions. These young individuals and their families encountered challenges in fulfilling their altered requirements upon returning from overseas medical care. Additionally, they grappled with the process of reintegrating into their regular lives after an absence of more than two consecutive months from their families.
