Chicago Pediatric Dentists Begin Mission In Gaza

This week, clinical professor of pediatric dentistry at the University of Illinois, Dr. Sahar Alrayyes and Dr. Anne-Ashley Compton from Chicago, United States, conducted medical examinations for 60 children with special needs and those suffering from cancer, autism, and other conditions that require more specialized dental care. They scheduled many surgeries that will be performed during their most recent volunteer mission with the Palestine Children's Relief Fund at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City throughout the rest of this week. Dr. Sahar and Dr. Anne-Ashley’s work is nothing short of inspiring as they work with these children to perform exams to assess their medical needs while also delivering to each child a set of beautiful gifts that include dental hygiene supplies and other toys. They approach each child with a unique way to ease their anxiety and comfort them during treatment. This remarkable team has led numerous volunteer medical missions with the PCRF in recent years to the West Bank, Gaza, and Jordan, and they are active steering committee members of PCRF’s Chicago Chapter.
