Seven-year-old Qossay Sallout from Khan Younis in Gaza was born with a significant facial deformity and a large posterior cranial defect which could not be treated in his country. He traveled with his grandmother to USA, where he underwent a long 16-hour long surgery at the Willis-Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. The operation was led by Dr Ghali Ghali and included a team of maxillofacial specialists that included Dr Jennifer Woerner and Dr Jason Dashow. The surgery also required other specialists, such as neurosurgery, pediatric surgery, and urological surgery teams who all assisted in the operation. The surgery went well and Qossay is expected to recover soon before undergoing the second phase of treatment. This is the second surgery Dr. Ghali and his team have taken on for PCRF kids. Last year they performed the exact surgery for Qossay's younger brother Farid who suffered from the same condition. Qossay and his grandmother are currently being cared for by volunteers from the Shreveport community.
