PCRF Sends Assessment Mission in Plastic Surgery to Lebanon’s Refugee Camps

This week, the head of plastic surgery at Makassed Charitable Hospital in East Jerusalem, and a member of PCRF’s Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Committee on our Medical Advisory Board, Dr. Hisham Ammous, conducted extensive assessments of hospitals treating Palestinian refugees in Lebanon’s camps. The hospitals are run by the main surgery provider for Palestinians in Lebanon, the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), with the goal of identifying needs for building a program there to improve patient care and reduce referrals to private Lebanese hospitals. Dr. Ammous has led several surgery teams to Lebanon and treated dozens of patients for PCRF in the past. He has visited Haifa Hospital in Bourj Al Barajna refugee camp in Beirut, Safad Hospital in Beddawi Refugee Camp, and Al Hamshari Hospital near the Ein el Hilweh refugee camp in Saida.
